He was loved and cherished by many people including: his former wife Elaine Wilmoth Whitaker; his wife Brenda J. Miller; his children, Jonathan Gentry Whitaker (Sally) of Dobson and Sommer Leigh Whitaker of Winston-Salem; his stepdaughter Jan Rose Ayers of Elkin; his grandsons, Houston Gentry Whitaker and Harrison Spark Whitaker of Dobson; his stepgrandsons, Charles Dylan Royall of Lowgap, Robert Tate Ayers of Elkin and Charles Kellan Royall; his brother Billy Whitaker (Joanne); and his nieces, Teresa, Donna and Jami.
