He was predeceased by: his parents, John Robinson Poindexter and Janie Pillow Poindexter; and his siblings, Jean P. Driver, June P. Bayton, Harriett P. Mason and Jack Poindexter.
He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Scruggs Poindexter; his children, Clark Poindexter (Rhonda) of Phenix and Rhonda Poindexter Beale (Chris) of Kilmarnock, VA; his grandchildren, John Paul Poindexter (Crystal), Brian Poindexter (Hannah), Danielle Poindexter Williams (Matthew), Jessica Beale Gilman (Tyler) and Kristin Beale Gupta (Christopher); his great grandchildren, John Milton Poindexter, Janie Louise Poindexter, Marshall Gilman, Rose Mary Gilman, Malachi Gupta and Shaylah Lowe; and his sister Colleen Andrews of Phenix.
