He is survived by: his wife Bernice Thompson; his sister Wilma McConnell; his siblings-in-law, Mary Hill, Bonnie Sanders, Ruth Graham of Lumberton and Sam Thompson, Jr. of Petersburg, Virginia; his nieces, Anita Sanders of Greensboro and Dee Whiteside of Fayette; and his nephew James Whiteside. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
