It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rachael H. Shumate (Petersburg, Virginia), who passed away on March 17, 2018, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Jack Hooker and Katherine Hooker; and her husbands, Kenesaw Shumate and Maestro Evan Whallon. She is survived by: her children, Katherine Shumate (Jane Cera) of Columbus, Alyssa Van Ausdal (John) of Columbus and Harrison Shumate of Petersburg, VA; her sister Marcia Lee (Warner) of Phoenix; and her grandchildren, Jackson Ausdal and Lola Van Ausdal. She is also survived by nieces and nephew.
