He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Simmons, Sr. and Ruth Jackson Simmons; his brothers, Larland Simmons, Joseph Simmons, Sr. and James Simmons; his grandson DeAndre Simmons; his nephews, Dwain Simmons and Joseph Simmons Jr.; and his brother-in-law Richard Harper.
He is survived by: his wife Mevina Simmons (Mel) of North Dinwiddie; his daughters, Alisia Walker-Lewis (Alphonso), Forleser Flowers (Mark) of Petersburg, Shelcee Parris, Arlene Simmons and Shumeka Brown of Hopewell; his stepson Tarreyton Walker of Carson, VA; his siblings, Myra Harper of Petersburg, Frenchie Miller, Gerald Simmons, Michael Simmons and Claude Simmons Jr.; his grandchildren, Marcus Simmons, Kaiser Simmons (Terrell), Ashley Parris, Sherelle Parris, Deonte Lewis, Darius Parris, Terrance Jones Jr. and Clairessa Brown; his sisters-in-law, Vivian Elaine Coles of Petersburg, Odessa Jackson of Petersburg and Renda Simmons of Wilsons, NC; and his friend Brenda Reid. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
