He was predeceased by: his parents, Emerson Whitaker and Essie Whitaker; his siblings, Emerson Whitaker, Jr., Wallace Whitaker and Dorethea Whitaker; his grandson Tre'Von McKinnie; his nephew Earl Maye, Jr.; and his niece Kaurick Sapp.
He is survived by: his daughters, Taneisha Joiner, Katrina Whitaker and Demetria Whitaker (Jerome); and his sisters, Elizabeth Pitt, Esther Maye (Earl) and Margaret Smith (Randall). He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
