He was predeceased by: his father Phil R. Alexander; his wife Joyce Jones Alexander; and his brother Otis Alexander. He is survived by: his children, Janice Smith of Chesterfield, VA, Charles Jones of Denver, CO, James D Alexander, Jr. of Petersburg, VA and Joseph Alexander of Washington, DC; his grandchildren, Du-Wayne Moody, Nakia Taylor (Darnell), Tarik Caballero, Diva Jones, Danielle Jones, Marcos Troche and Damien Troche; and his siblings-in-law, Dolores Wildly, Camilla Best and Willie Jones. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
