Whitaker of Petersburg, VA; his daughter Sheila Jones of Petersburg, VA; his grandchildren, Pamela Jones of Petersburg, VA, Michelle Jones of Annapolis, MD and Jamie Jones of Charlotte, NC; his daughter Barbara Jones of Petersburg, VA; his grandchildren, Rhonda Jones of Petersburg, VA and Rev. Michael Jones (Christy) of Chesterfield, VA; his stepchildren, Mark Thompson, Jr. of Petersburg, VA and Jill Winfield of Atlanta, GA; and his close friends, Elroy "Pee Wee" Burrows and William Avery.

Gilbert Jones wrote a sympathy message

“I worked with Mr. Whitaker at Phillip Morris (Park 500). We had some good times and made working together a memory filled adventure. We called him "POPS". He was an easy going, fun guy to work with. My condolences to the family and may he REST IN HEAVEN🙏🏼”
