He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewellyn Yates and Thelma Jones Yates; and his siblings, Mary Ellen White, Courtland White Yates, Lonnie Flem Yates and Gary Monroe Yates.
He is survived by: his wife Ida H. Yates; his daughters, FeLisa L. Yates and Trimika Yates Tuckett; his brothers, Cleaver Al Yates (Vera), Loyd Yates (Jane), Robert Yates (Glenda), Jimmy Yates (Steffani), Charlie Yates (Lisa) and Gregory Yates (Fontellia); his siblings-in-law, Margie Hargrove, Jean Yates and Joseph Hargrove; and his aunt Flossie Jordan. He is also survived by relatives and friends.
