He was predeceased by: his parents, Jasper Jackson and Mary Jackson; his sister Deaconess Dora L. Bates; his brother-in-law Deacon James L. Bates, Sr.; his uncle Sherman of Petersburg; his aunt Martha Bridgforth of Petersburg; and his sister Yvette Rose (Melvin) of Prince George.

He is survived by: his niece Antoinette C. Bates of Petersburg; his brother Jerome Edmonds; and his nieces and nephews, Mack, Demonzae, Keajha, Christopher, Curtis Allen, Ashauni Trapp, Renee Cobb and Shaquita Coleman (Devin).
