With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Bernice I. Shelton (Petersburg, Virginia), born in Prince George, Virginia, who passed away on August 10, 2021 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Inez Hayes and Spencer Hayes; her husband Grover C. Shelton, Sr.; her sons, Steven D. Hayes and Robert R. Shelton; her siblings, Melvin Hayes, Arthur Hayes, James Hayes, Mildred Evans and Janet Jefferson; and her cousin Brenda Hayes.
She is survived by: her children, Grover Shelton, Jr. (Marshall) and Corey Shelton (Nicole); her grandchildren, Alexander Shelton of Sandpoint, ID, Andre Shelton of Sandpoint, ID and Haven Shelton of Marietta, GA; her stepgrandchildren, Tametra Sanders and Jamonique Palacio of Hampton, VA; her great grandchildren, Lillian Shelton, Addison Shelton and Andre Shelton; her brothers, Ronald Hayes, Sr. (Glenda) of Prince George, VA and George Hayes (Trucella) of Portsmouth, VA; her uncle Charmlen Hayes; her nieces and nephews, Gail Valentine, Jean Jefferson, Lois Williams (Vincent), Faith Mason, Brenda Mason, Antionette Mason, Arthurine Hayes, Inez Hayes, Melvina Brown, Stephanie Hayes, Stacy Hayes, Tina Hayes, Aisha McDonald, Gillian Moore (Tony), Laura Lucky, Terrica Hayes Cobb (Duane), James Jefferson, Kenneth Hayes, Leroy Hayes, Vincent Claiborne, Reginald Jones, Ronald Hayes, Jr. and Glenn Hayes; her friends, Mary Catherine Spratley and Florence Graves Crew; and her nieces, Melvena Brown, Margo Parker (Walter) and Bernice. She is also survived by great nieces, great nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
