He was predeceased by: his wife Gladys Louise James; his mother-in-law Hilda Bey; his mother Easter James; and his siblings, Melvin James Sr., Alice Baines and Catherine Bracey.
He is survived by: his children, Berkley James Jr., Mark James Sr. (Garlette) and Tanger James-Brown Cordray (Adrian); his brother Harold James Sr.; and his grandchildren, Keisha Crockett, Mark James Jr., Kevin Patterson Jr., Chantel James, Amari Brown, Adrien Brown, Bentley James, Brayden James and Cordero Jones (Yolonda). He is also survived by 11 great grandchildren.
