With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Askia Faheem (Petersburg, Virginia), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 25, 2025 at the age of 76. He was predeceased by: his mother Bessie Moorefield; his stepfather Stanley Mitchell; his pet Zeus; his wife Cheryl; his children, Ryan (Senayit), Kesha (Gregory), Eric, Staton, Stephen and Shanay; his grandson James Edward; and his brother Ronald Moorefield.
He is survived by: his cousin Gaylord Tinsley; his nephews, Ronald, Michael Moorefield, Maurice Jackson, Wayne Jackson and William "Tuck" Bates; his stepchildren, Tony Johnson, Nzingha, Paul and David; and his friends, George Johnson, Bill Akers, Jessie Williams, Roderick "Rock" Bates, James Davis (Goose), John Jenkins, Benny Goode and Sweetie Pie.
A memorial service was held on Sunday, April 6th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Benedict Civic Club (500 Fleet St, Petersburg, VA 23803).
