She was predeceased by: her parents, Emma Walden Shands and Sonnie Shands, Sr.; and her siblings, Sonnie Shands, Jr., Roy Manson, Alvin Shands, Curtis Shands, Cecil Shands, Reginald Shands, Leroy Shands, Celestine Shands, Jeanette Mallory, Vanessa Shands and Mildred Bryant.
She is survived by: her siblings, Brenda Carter (Melvin) of Dinwiddie, VA, Francine Tatum (Joseph) of Newport News, VA, Darlene Shands of Raleigh, NC, Tyrone Shands (Sandra) and Harold Shands of Hopewell, VA; her sisters-in-law, Bertha Manson, Carolyn Shands of Petersburg, VA and Shirley Shands of Colonial Heights, VA; and her friend Ernestine Shaw. She is also survived by three grandsons seven granddaughters, four great grandsons and four great granddaughters; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives.
