He was predeceased by: his wife Shirley Sutphin; his children, Donna Gray and Tom Taylor; his parents, Daniel Sutphin and Iva Sutphin; his stepfather Walt Smith; and his sister-in-law Mildred Sutphin.
He is survived by: his children, Wayne Sutphin (Lana) of Jonesville, VA, Daniel Sutphin (Stephanie) of Alabama, Mitchell Sutphin of Jonesville, VA, Anna Marcum (Tray) of Jonesville, VA and Jane Parsons (Chuck) of Pennington Gap, VA; and his brother Stanley Sutphin of Morristown, TN. He is also survived by two nieces and a host of extended family and friends.
