He was predeceased by: his parents, Junior Lee Garrett and Betty June Stapleton Garrett; his siblings, Roger Dale "Bubba" Garrett and Robin Lynn Garrett Tabor; his daughter Stephanie Ann Hoke Garrett; and his grandparents, William "Bill" Stapleton, Joyce Mae Belcher Stapleton, Maron Garrett and Mae Lundy Garrett.
He is survived by: his children, Garry Douglas Garrett, Jr., Amanda Rachelle Smithson (Steven) of Fall Branch, TN, Jordan Kayleigh Robbins of Pennington Gap, VA and Ariel Leah Garrett of Pennington Gap, VA.; his siblings, Terry Lee Garrett of Johnson City, TN and Darryl Dwayne Garrett of Pennington Gap, VA; and his grandchildren, Emmitt Paul Garrett, Violet Grace Garrett of Jonesville, VA and Harper Anne Smithson of Fall Branch, TN.
