He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion W. Bledsoe and Tina Oaks Bledsoe; and his siblings, Lloyd, Coy, Donald, Ralph Bledsoe, Madge Harvell and Bessie Mae Ball.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Jean Bledsoe; his children, Debra Wharton (Sam) of Wise, VA and Gary Bledsoe (Melissa) of Jupiter, FL; his stepdaughter Jill Housewright (Chris) of Kingsport, TN.; his grandchildren, Samuel Wharton III, Adam Wharton (Melissa), Lora Lopez (Marco) and Gary Michael Bledsoe II; his stepgranddaughter Marti Patterson (Mark); and the mother of his children Shirley Pearson. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
