He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert James Cassell and Nannie Mae Craig Cassell; and his brothers, William "Bill" Cassell, Carl Cassell, Curtis Cassell and Larry Cassell.
He is survived by: his grandson Christopher Shough; his wife Mary Cassell; his children, Deborah Dalton (Buck), Sandra Martin, Angela Brown and James "Peanut" Cassell, Jr. (Lisa); his siblings, Judy Holloway, Linda Thomas (Don), Dorothy Clifton, Debbie Shorter, Lonnie Cassell (Linda), Chester Cassell (Kaye) and Dickie Cassell (Vickie); and his grandchildren, Brad Cassell, Jonathan Martin (Lauren), Leann Miller (Robbie), Bryan Cassell (Sarah) and Abigail Brown.
