He was predeceased by: his parents, James Russell Cockram and Lear Hylton Cockram; his wife Virginia Belle Handy Cockram; and his brothers, Roney, Bennie and Coy Cockram.
He is survived by: his daughters, Hazel Cockram McGee (Christopher) of Raleigh, Peggy Smith (Derick) of Stuart and Rebecca Plasters (Ed Williams); his grandchildren, Ash Plasters, Shane Plasters, Patrick Smith, Dale McGee and Dillon McGee; and his sisters, Elsie Lawson (Bill) of Martinsville and Dorothy Biggs (Carlton) of Stuart. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
