He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilmer Preston McDaniel and Nancy Jane Myers Crowder; his stepfather William B. Crowder; his siblings, Reese Willis McDaniel (Mary), Herbert William McDaniel and Brenda Lee McDaniel Gusler (Charlie Jr.); and his siblings-in-law, Nelson R. Childress, Paul Underwood and Eva Mae McDaniel.
He is survived by: his wife Suzanne Annis "Susie" McDaniel; his children, Sherri McDaniel Reese (David) of Gastonia, NC and Byrney McDaniel (Dana) of Parksley; his siblings, Preston Coleman McDaniel, William B. "Buddy" Crowder, Jr., Myrtle McDaniel Childress and Shirley Ann McDaniel Underwood; his grandchildren, Haley McDaniel and Dalton McDaniel; and his stepgrandson Aaron Reese (Vanessa). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
