He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Joseph Matthews and Evelyn Taylor Matthews; and his brother Charles Wayne Matthews. He is survived by: his daughter Christina Lynn Townsend (Yardley) of Palm Bay, FL; his sister Betty Jo Colonna (Norris) of Federalsburg, VA; his sister-in-law Betty Lou Porter of Horntown; his grandchildren, Amber Tankard, Dillion Matthews, Chelsey Townsend and Donteá Townsend; and his nephews, Keith Colonna (Deena), Charles Matthews (Susan) and Kelly Roache.
