He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Franklin Dize Drummond; and his parents, Melvin E. Drummond, Sr. and Dorothy Custis Drummond. He is survived by: his children, Vernon Ames Drummond, Jr. (Shannon) of Craddockville, Mary M. Doughty of Willis Wharf, VA, Rita M. Higbee (Ira) of Painter and Annette Hall (Ron) of Capeville, VA; and his brother Melvin E. Drummond, Jr. of Painter. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
