With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Gladys Lucille Upshur (Painter, Virginia), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 28, 2025 at the age of 73. She was predeceased by: her parents, Lillie Florence Upshur and James Otis Johnson; her siblings, Lillie Mae Upshur and Wilbert Church; her grandson Orlondo Upshur; and her cousins, Big Brown and Junior.
She is survived by: her aunts, Louise Upshur of Belle Haven and Mary Williams of Eastville, Virginia; her siblings, Irene Upshur of Trenton, Bobby Upshur, Barbara Upshur of Exmore, Victoria Holmes (Alfred) of Painter, Fred Upshur of Chesapeake, Robert Upshur (Connie) of Hampton and Mack Upshur of York, Pennsylvania; her children, Alexis Allen (Dwayne) of Melfa, Leticia Barnes of Cheriton and Christopher Upshur of Trenton; her grandchildren, Ishamekia (Marquie), Regineka (Crca), Aizmani, Heavenlei, Christopher, Jr., Kristian, Cianna, Cherish, Destiny and Kahleya; her great grandchildren, Jazyiah, Ikerya, Tahj and Yvonne; and her close friend Carleen Battle. She is also survived by nieces, nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM at the New Mt. Zion Baptist Church (17450 Coal Kiln Rd, Painter, VA 23420). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 8th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
