He is survived by: his wife Barbara Booker Carpenter of Orange; his daughters, Valerie Carpenter Griffith (Steven) of Sandston and Katrina Ashley Carpenter of Orange; and his grandchildren, Nicholas Andrew Pritchard, Mila Autumn Dixon and Hunter Evan Knox.
