He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Donald and Margaret Young Faulconer; his wife Dana Fitzhugh Smith; his siblings, Peggy (Si Nelms) and Donald Jr.; and his pets, Dee and Bud Light.
He is survived by: his children, John Y Jr. (Jennifer) and Margaret Conway (Joanna); his grandchildren, Jenna, Judson and Mikala (Thor Strickland); and his siblings-in-law, Janet and Jim (Charlotte Smith). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
