She was predeceased by: her parents, Virginia Vawter and Ernest Vawter; her husband John Marvin Garr; and her siblings, Walter Earl Vawter, William Baxter Vawter and Dorothy Vawter Cundiff.

She is survived by: her children, Sam Cave, Dorothy Leon (John) of Nebo, NC and Danny Garr Culpeper (Gabbie); her grandchildren, Patrick Mitchell, Samara Abbott (Rich), Molly Johnson (Dustin) and Hayley Garr (Ricky); her great grandchildren, Sonney, Ashby, Weston Jenkins and Vaughn Johnson; and her sisters-in-law, Frances Vawter and Mary Jo Vawter.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Dogwood Village Senior Living Activities Department.
