He was predeceased by: his parents, Norman Fletcher Mason and Betsy Fowler Mason; his daughter Sarah Beth Mason; and his daughter-in-law Mildred Mapp "Millie" Mason. He is survived by: his wife Sue Boggs Mason; his son David F. Mason of Onancock; his stepgranddaughters, Rebecca S. Bresee and Christian S. Parks; and his brother-in-law Edward Boggs.
