He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Woodson Smith and Rose Helen Charnock Smith; his former wife Beverly; and his siblings, Helen Jones, Virginia Taylor, Harvey, Norman, Cecil and Marvin "Pete" Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Kathryn; his children, Kimberly Patton (David) of Fort Valley, VA, Jack Wayne Smith, Jr. (Anna) of Quinby, VA and Amory Musselwhite (Ray) of Fayetteville, NC; his stepchildren, Wanda Doughty of Onancock, VA and Douglas Layne (Monica) of Franktown, VA; his stepgranddaughters, Abigail and Isabel Musselwhite; and his stepchildren, Chauncey and Aubrey Smith. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
