It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Damon Derrick Matthews (Onancock, Virginia), born in Norfolk, Virginia, who passed away on July 4, 2023, at the age of 62, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his father John David "Butch" Matthews, Jr.; and his son David Waue. He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Ellen Button-Matthews; his mother Penny Hawkins Matthews of Cashville; his daughters, Amber Matthews (Alex) of Chesapeake, VA, Kristin Riddick (Coley) of Virginia Beach, VA and Emily Faith Matthews of Cashville; his brother David E. "Butch" Matthews (Debbie) of Virginia Beach; his daughter-in-law Carolyn Waue of Ohio; his grandchildren, William Matthews, Natalie, Nathan Waue, Charlotte and Ella Riddick; and his dedicateds, Bucky, Chris, Rico and Joe.
