He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamine Otto Bateman and Gladys Helen Simpson Bateman; his close friends, Robert Edward McCoy and Eleanor Marie "Ellie" Abaray; his sister Mary Ann (Thomas E. Smith Jr.) of Chesterfield, VA; his brother-in-law John Henry Snowden, Jr.; and his niece Ginger Jo Snowden.
He is survived by: his sisters, Helen Marie (William Clyde Munson Jr.) of River Edge, NJ and Martha Jo Snowden of Maple, NC; and his nephews, John Henry Snowden, III of Maple, NC and Seth Smith (Emily) of Chesterfield, VA..
