He is survived by: his wife Jewel Hamilton Dowdy; his sister Orpha Dowdy Chandler; his children, James Allen Dowdy (Valerie), Phillip Bradley Dowdy, II and Jennifer Dowdy Gonzalez (Robert); his grandchildren, Ashley, Shaun, Cassandra, Ethan, Graeme, Jennifer, Michaela, Peyton, Nicholas, Cayse, Robby, Taylor, Zachary and Johnathan; his nephew Troy E. Chandler II; and his niece Cassie Smith. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
