He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayne Tate and Helen Tate; and his siblings, Jimmy Tate, Gerald Tate, Robert "Bobby" Tate, Alfred Tate, Frank Tate, Deanna Tate and Nancy Darnell.
He is survived by: his children, Linda Knott (Dan) of Philadelphia, Vicky Blevins (Doug) of Independence and James Tate (Crystal) of Norton; his grandchildren, McKenzie Tate, Mason Blevins, Levi Blevins, Jacob Knott and Abby Knott; his granddaughter-in-law Emily Brooks of Independence; his siblings, Mike Tate of Morristown and Sandra Rose of Clinton; and his close friend Mike Thomas of Lee County.
