He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayne Tate and Helen Tate; and his siblings, Jimmy Tate, Gerald Tate, Robert "Bobby" Tate, Alfred Tate, Deanna Tate and Nancy Darnell.

He is survived by: his children, Karen Tate and Kevin Tate; the mother of his children Margaret Tate of Norton; his grandchildren, Courtney Thacker Watford, Jordan Thacker, Wes Tate, Marcus Tate and Sheena Tate; and his siblings, Gary Tate of Norton, Mike Tate of Morristown, TN and Sandra Rose of Clinton, TN. He is also survived by twelve great grandchildren.
