He was predeceased by: his parents, Bascom Sheffield and Bessie Sheffield; and his brother Emerson Sheffield. He is survived by: his wife Rosalie Spain Sheffield; his brother Willis Sheffield of Richmond; and his friend Joe Watson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Kenwood United Methodist Church, 25200 Ritchie Avenue, North Dinwiddie, VA, 23803.
