He is survived by: his brother Shirley Carter; his grandson Idrees Sutherland; his wife Deaconess Lucille Carter; his children, Marlene Carter of New York, NY, Lisa Lee (Andre) of Petersburg, VA, Kunyri Carter (Evelyn) of Yorktown, VA and Nishon Carter of Newport News, VA; and his sisters-in-law, Josephine Epps, Audrey Sizer of Washington, DC and Mary Harris (D. Floyd Harris) of Los Angeles, CA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
