He was predeceased by: his parents, William E. Powell and Allie Mae Powell; and his siblings, Robert, Ronald, William, Phillip, Linda and Sharon.

He is survived by: his children, Mark Powell, Adrien Powell and Darlene Jones; his siblings, Florence Branch, Constance Johnson, Barbara Allen and Roland M. Powell; and his nephew Joseph W. Johnson, Jr.. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
