“This is the strangest thing I have experienced in a long time! I was given some old hiking books yesterday, May 23, 1917. Unbeknownst to me and the giver, inside was a post card postmarked June 6, 1940 and sent from a 'Margaret D' to Betty Marxsen of Nebrasca. Also inside the book was a H.S. class picture from 1940 from North Bend H.S., with Betty Marxsen pictured. This event happened on the exact date of Betty's death! I didn't know what to do with the items but I didn't want to discard them. So today I decided to try to find the owner, although I knew the person would be very old if still alive. I entered the name on Facebook and came across this obituary. I am simply amazed that this happened. I was given the hiking books because I like to hike. I live on Squak Mt., west of North Bend. I am affiliated with the Issaquah Alps Trail Club, founded by Harvey Manning. I wonder if Betty was a hiker while in North Bend? Anyway, if the family would like, I can mail these items to someone. I can be reached through Facebook, I guess. Condolences!”
