He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Agnes Dawson Rutter; his parents, Frank Rutter and Artie Violet Rose Rutter; and his siblings, Clyde Goodman, James Goodman, Infant Bert Rutter, Infant Bobby Dean Rutter, Marion Rutter, Douglas Rutter, Michael Rutter, Infant Elizabeth Irene Rutter, Mary Lou Boxenbaum, Lois Warner, Norma Jean Rose, Gladys Rutter and Alice Coleman.
He is survived by: his children, Mary Jane Rutter Akers (Phil A. Akers, Sr.) and William Joseph Rutter "Joe" (Beverly Rutter); his grandson Phil Allen Akers, II; his great grandchildren, Phil A. Akers, III (Trey), Davy Akers, Andy Akers, Derick Barlow, Josiah Rutter, Madison Akers, Chloe Akers and Nikita Barlow-Akers; his great great grandchildren, Landon Akers, Taytum Helm and Gage Helm; and also David Joseph Akers (Deborah Akers). He is also survived by in-laws, nieces, nephews, neighbors.
