He was predeceased by: his parents, Rufus Britton "Britt" Mitchell Sr. and Mary Magdalene Waldron Mitchell of Bradshaw, WV.; his wife Peggy Faye Mitchell; and his siblings, Glenn K Mitchell, Sr., James Franklin "Buddy" Mitchell, Lula Belle Mitchell and Linda Faye Mitchell.

He is survived by: his children, Denise Spell (Bill) of Columbia, SC and Bobby Mitchell, Jr. (Tina) of Cedar Bluff, VA; his grandchildren, Lauren Spell, Lacey Spell, Bobby Mitchell III (Mary) and Blake Mitchell; his great grandchild Sierra Asbury; and his siblings, Britt Mitchell (Linda), Phyllis Charles, Peggy Lundy and Dorothy Poore.

Visitation was held on Thursday, December 12th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home (232 Ben Bolt Ave, Tazewell, VA 24651). A funeral service was held on Thursday, December 12th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
