We are sad to announce that on April 5, 2025, at the age of 89, Thornia Mae Massey (Norfolk, Virginia), born in Marion, South Carolina passed away. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Thornia Mae Massey to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her husband Herman Haywood Massey of Rochester, NY.; her children, John Calvin Massey (Brenda Massey) and Sandra Renee Massey; her sister-in-law Clara Thompson; and her parents, Winston Thompson and Mantha Lewis Thompson.
She is survived by: her daughters, Wanda Massey and Sonya Massey of Baltimore, MD.; her grandchildren, Tim, Ebony, Traun, Joseph, Chris, Neshawn and Wynter; and her niece Deborah Davis. She is also survived by eighteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 16th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Metropolitan Funeral Service (120 W Berkley Ave, Norfolk, VA 23523). A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM.
Thornia was a member of the Foundation Park-Sunrise Hills Community Civic League. She was known in the Foundation Park community as "Miss Massey the Candy Lady," where she positively impacted the lives of countless children in the community.
