He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Maurice Imel and Goldie Marie Kirts; his brother John Wayne Imel; his daughter Dawn Marie Imel; and the mother of his children Wilma Ann Goodwin.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia Rice (Pattie); his children, Robert Maurice Imel II, Johanna Wayne Imel (Joy), Lee'Ann Douglas Hartford and Joy; his granddaughter Wendi Ames; and his nephew Kenny Imel. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even a few great-great-grandchildren.
