He is survived by: his mother Ann Ryan McDaniel of Bristol, TN; his wife Betty McDaniel of Nickelsville, VA; his children, Ryan McDaniel, Rebecca Martin (Tim) of Maryville, TN, Steven Anderson (Crissy) of Versailles, KY and Scott Swafford; his brother Harold Allen McDaniel, Jr.; his grandchildren, Mara Jade McDaniel, Sara Swafford, Kyle Swafford, Logan Moore, Mason Anderson and Adryanna Anderson; his nieces, Amelie Burke of Cincinnati, OH, Mary Beth Rapien and Kathy Leonard; and his close friends, Sue Bond, Brian Bond, Bradley Bond and John Felty.

Due to Covid-19 the family requests everyone who attends please wear a face covering and adhere to the social distancing guidelines.

“My sincere sympathy and prayers to the McDaniel family. I was several years younger than John, but I remember him as a nice neighbor, a classmate of my big sister, and one of the talented football players on the winning Tennessee High School early 70's football teams.”
