It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Grover Meade Jr. of Nickelsville, Virginia, born in Castlewood, Virginia, who passed away on August 5, 2021, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Grover Meade and Pearl Million Meade; and his siblings, Syble Castle Flythe and Oakley Meade. He is survived by: his wife Patty Stapleton Meade; his children, Joyce Gilreath (Rex) of Nickelsville, Jennifer Grizzle (Jamie) of Nickelsville, Virginia and Jackie Meade (Lisa) of Nickelsville, Virginia; his grandchildren, Alicia White (Andy), Trevor Gilreath (Tiffany), Hunter Meade (Courtney) and Justin Grizzle (Summer); his great grandchild Avery White; his siblings, Phyllis Sims of Castlewood, Sue Hurd of Castlewood, Virginia, Rev. Henry Wayne Meade (Linda) of Castlewood, Farley Meade (Christine) of Kingsport, Bobby Meade (Shirley) of Kingsport and Tommy Meade (Pearl) of Castlewood, Virginia; and his sister-in-law Effie Reed of Nickelsville, Virginia. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

“I just learned of Jr's passing this afternoon and wanted to reach out to Patty and the family to extend my sincere condolences in his passing. As his long time doctor(and friend), I have been through some very difficult times with Jr. but I always found him to be upbeat and optimistic no matter what problems we were facing. As we simply ran out of ways to help him, we can all be comforted in the fact that he is in a much better place now and suffers no more. Dr DeMotts”
