He is survived by: his wife Cathy Castle Cox; his daughter Tina Cox Gilmer (Vance); his grandchildren, Conner Wayne Gilmer (Savannah) and Colten Vance Gilmer; his sisters, Judy Flanary (late John Flanary) and Gerry Christian (Gene); his siblings-in-law, Linda Rogers (Roy) and Rowland Barker; and his pet Butterball "Slick".
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Colonial Funeral Home (456 US-23, Weber City, VA 24290). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel (456 US-23, Weber City, VA 24290). A graveside service was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 at 12:00 PM and at 1:00 PM at the Nickelsville Methodist Church (11675 Main Street, Nickelsville, VA 24271). A procession was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 at 12:45 PM at the Temple Hill Memorial Park.
