He was predeceased by: his parents, Cyrus Robert Sluss and Vergie Hartsock; and his sons, Jeff and Phil Sluss. He is survived by: his sons, Richard Sluss and Travis Sluss; his grandchildren, Neal Sluss and Leanne Sluss; and the mother of his children Joyce Erwin. He is also survived by several great grandchildren.
