It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Henry Burgess of Newsoms, Virginia, born in Winton, North Carolina, who passed away on February 8, 2024, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Clayton Henry Burgess and Stella Hill Wall Burgess; and his sister Delia Losey. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Kaye Burgess; his children, Michelle Kaye Kello (Lee) of Bridgewater and James Kevin Burgess (Patrick Evans) of Akron, OH; his siblings, Dorothy Beshara of Newton, NC, Kim York (Ken) of Shallotte, NC, Stella Boone of Cary, NC, Clayton Burgess of Harrellsville, NC and Billy Wayne Burgess (Lynn) of Sedley; and his grandsons, Richard John and Layton Kello. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and suggests that memorial donations be made to CHDK or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
