She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Holmes and Vernell Ponton; her brothers, Thelbert "Billy" Ponton, David Ponton and James "Boo Boo" Bates; and her sister-in-law Geraldine Pugh.

She is survived by: her children, LaShonda Gillis and Lamont Gillis (Shelita); her grandchildren, Deandre Gillis, Jayla Gillis, Judah Gillis and Josiah Chandler; her siblings, Bruce Ponton (Manesia) and Barbara Ann Brown (Keith Sr.); and her siblings-in-law, Frizell Pugh, Sr., Evelyn Powell and Ruth Yvonne Dabney (John). She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
