We are sad to announce that on June 23, 2024 we had to say goodbye to Paula Marie Gillis of Newport News, Virginia. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Willie Holmes and Vernell Ponton; her brothers, Thelbert "Billy" Ponton, David Ponton and James "Boo Boo" Bates; and her sister-in-law Geraldine Pugh.

She is survived by : her children, LaShonda Gillis and Lamont Gillis (Shelita); her grandchildren, Deandre Gillis, Jayla Gillis, Judah Gillis and Josiah Chandler; her siblings, Bruce Ponton (Manesia) and Barbara Ann Brown (Keith Sr.); and her siblings-in-law, Frizell Pugh, Sr., Evelyn Powell and Ruth Yvonne Dabney (John). She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

Viewing was held on Friday, June 28th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the M. E. Fisher Funeral Home (2117 Madison Ave, Newport News, VA 23607).
