With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Ethel Mae Edwards (Newport News, Virginia), who passed away on June 12, 2024 at the age of 73. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the sacred silence of farewell, Ethel Mae is released into the embrace of eternity, knowing that her light will continue to shine brightly in the tapestry of the lives of her loved ones. And as her memory is carried forward, may comfort be found in the knowledge that love is eternal, and that Ethel Mae's spirit lives on in the beauty that surrounds us.
She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, David Avent, Sr. and Anna Mae Avent; and her siblings, David Avent, Jr., Willie Lacy Avent, Ernest Lorenzo Avent and Shirley Avent.
She volunteered at church preparing bagged meals for the unhoused population and checking-in children for Sunday school class, and she regularly donated to numerous charities.
