She was predeceased by: her parents, Po Tom and Bertha Yates; her husband James Adkins; her siblings, Ollie, Lucy, Jim, Dolly, Mable, William and Jerene; her children, Beverly Robinson and Charles Yates; her stepchildren, James Atkins Jr. and Jennifer Weaver; and her stepgrandson Donnie Lindsay.
She is survived by: her stepchildren, Carnell Atkins (Lydia) of Baltimore, MD, Bobby Atkins (Juanita) of Williamsburg, VA and Ricki Atkins (Rhonda) of Leesburg, VA; her grandchildren, Monica Boothe (Darryl) of Hampton, VA, Alvenia Coppedge of Yorktown, VA and Alvernon Coppedge Jr. of Hampton, VA; her great grandchild Vernisha Fayton (Cory) of Hampton, VA; and her great great grandchildren, Jada Angove and Levi Faton. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held on Sunday, January 19th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel (1601 27th St, Newport News, VA 23607). A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Macedonia Baptist Church (5500 Marshall Ave, Newport News, VA 23605).
